About the Artist
I’m Kellie McGinley-Smith, a proud military wife, mum of four, and grandma to one amazing little one. My family, life experiences, and travels which there is many are at the core of my artistic journey, influencing the stories I tell and the emotions I bring to life in my work.
In addition to my artwork, I’ve had the privilege of illustrating two published children’s books, with the 3rd and 4th soon to be released. These projects have allowed me to combine storytelling and visual art, inspiring young readers and bringing stories to life in a way that resonates deeply with families and children.
My art is distinctly split into two contrasting styles:
Shades of Reality
A raw and thought-provoking exploration of life as it is, captured through intricate pencil drawings and monochromatic tones. This side of my work delves into themes of resilience, endurance, and cultural narratives, including pieces inspired by the lives of Nepali street dogs and the symbolic imagery of urban landscapes.
What Dreams May Colour
A vibrant and imaginative escape into the world as it could be. This collection celebrates whimsy, hope, and the boundless possibilities of creativity, filled with vivid colours and dreamlike compositions that spark joy and wonder.
Beyond creating, I’m passionate about sharing the joy of art. Through workshops and classes, I help people of all ages and skill levels discover their own creativity and confidence in expressing .
